The problem between them comes when Wren doesn’t feel good enough for Mateo and Mateo doesn’t do relationships nor feelings. Mateo wants Wren to stay around so he comes up with ways for Wren to be needed. He has no trouble telling Mateo the good and bad. Yet when he meets Wren, he is faced with someone totally different than he has met before. He has had nothing from his parents to show feelings and relationships are something he wants. Mateo has a personality that caused me to be sad for him. He really has some negative feelings about himself and it causes relationship problems. Most people don’t see through the front he puts on that he is always fine. He keeps coming up with things he has learned and uses them in a matter-of-fact way. His history is so sad yet he doesn’t let it pull him down. Fun in that Wren is such a unique character. I feel it’s a combination of fun and heartache. To me this is a romance but so much more. 5/24/2023 0 Comments Anne marie hag seedI sincerely enjoyed this book and breezed right through - though that is not to say that this was a lighthearted read. I am not overly familiar with The Tempest itself (I vaguely remember reading it years ago, maybe it's time to re-read), so I understand that I may not have understand every reference or interpretative view, but I understood the basics and the fact that this book is outstanding. I honestly feel like I don't even know where to start with this magnificent book. I am really excited about this project, and I think it is an exciting way to bring Shakespeare's work to life in new and imaginative ways. K-Gr 3–“There is a creature prowling around our home! It is covered in thousands of soft fibers and its mouth stones are sharp!” Based on his popular comic series “Strange Planet,” Pyle debuts with the tale of strangely humanoid blue beings, Lifegiver and Offspring, studying the behavior of a “sneaking, hiding, vibrating creature.” Lifegiver and Offspring observe this indoor household creature sneaking silently across the floor, scratching the “group-soft seat” with its “deathblades,” and knocking over “hydration cylinders.” Digitally drawn, Pyle’s signature pink-and-blue comic panels expand to full-page spreads in this clever ode to cats. Therefore, race and cultural exchange are among the themes illustrated in the book. Blacks also took their trading skills in the Americans, and their main trading commodity was a metal spear. The blacks also transmitted pipe smoking to the Americans. America thus copied this regenerative farming from Africans. It is believed that the bananas, yams, beans, and gourds all originated from Africa. Cultural exchange is another theme described in the book. Those who acted as hosts to the Africans were considered as Olmecs. Indians were criticized for building shrines and temples for blacks who could not be allocated leadership positions. Africans were transported to America to work as slaves. The scholars in the book believed that Americans were more superior to Blacks (Sertima, 1976). Various themes are expressed and evident in the book, "They Came Before Columbus." The presence of race differences between Africans and Americans is well illustrated. Such films also differentially imposed sexist stereotypes on both men and women, pre-determining hierarchies of colonial heteronormative masculinity and femininity within which non-white Others were slotted. This ethnographic film history was predicated on observing and salvaging the histories of the “primitive,” soon-to-be-extinct peoples through visual documentation and, in so doing, these ethnographic films neatly mapped race onto culture, unabashedly fixing “primitive” practices onto bodies. Scientistic, distanced, observational film-making techniques continued the colonial quest for totalizing knowledge through the romantic ideal that film was “objective.” At the same time, the earliest ethnographic films relied on the perceived difference between white, Western, “civilized,” “modern” filmmakers and non-white, “primitive,” tribal, backwards peoples rendered mute on-screen. Ethnographic film, given its history as a vestige of colonial visual culture, has been defined by and constrained by the racist and imperial ideologies of those who were the earliest ethnographic filmmakers. 5/23/2023 0 Comments Hot Rock by Annie SeatonVisit the website and turn on the radar to get new notifications on people looking for you.
